PANDIT
MADAN MOHAN MALVIYA NATIONAL MISSION ON TEACHERS AND TEACHING (PMMMNMTT)
Pandit Madan Mohan
Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) Scheme was
launched by Prime Minster Narendar Modi at the Swatantata Bhawan in Banaras
Hindu University on December 25, 2014. The PMMMNMTT Mission would focus on the
whole sector of education without fragmenting the programs based on levels and
areas as school, higher, technical etc. The new scheme is an umbrella project
which will create synergies among the various on-going initiatives on teachers
and teaching under the Union Ministry of HRD. Under this project, the
Government of India will set up 50 Centres of Excellence for Curriculum and
Pedagogy with a fundamental importance on Maths and Science. The Mission will
provide an integrated platform for building synergies among all the existing
initiatives, providing oversight to the current activities and also carryout
new activities aimed at gap filling so that a comprehensive vehicle for
Teacher/Faculty related programs and schemes are created.
